Bulk densities of waste products are relatively low. Feeders are rarely heavily loaded and therefore do not need to be as robust. The focus is more on conveyability as product can be light and irregular.

In separation plants, feeders generally receive material from front end or backhoe loaders. Material then passes through a process which usually involves screening.

Ideally, the end result is an accurately separated waste product which can be sold for a premium.

Trommel and vibratory screens are very common solutions to separate waste products for the Recycling industry. For vibrating screens, a general rule of thumb for the recycling industry is to maintain high strokes. This prevent blinding and pegging of the difficult to screen material.

Vibratory conveyors are used together with belts to transport waste product. Manual sorting stations require a slow travel speed of material so that unwanted material types can be hand picked and discarded.

Spiral Elevators for Recycling

Spiral elevators elevate or de-elevate recycling material in an efficient, quiet, easy to clean and non dusty manner. The high travel time provides an opportunity for a second process such as heating or cooling.
